40th Anniversary Project

Tomorrow--July 20th--will be the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing.
We need to remind our government leaders that our future lies with space exploration, and only through the establishment of a lunar colony can this dream become a reality. I have already sent an E-mail message to President Obama to this effect and will be sending similar messages to my senators and congressional representative. I believe that if enough letters are sent to both the President and Congress, they will become aware that we need to return to the Moon. I'm asking the other members of the list to join me in this enterprise.

I've moved this to the forum for anniversary observances.

Certainly making government aware that space has a constituency is a good idea ; on the other hand, we do have to be careful lest we pin our hopes on government programmes, over which we can never have very much control. I am heartened by the explicit statement of this position in the Moon Society's new position statement.
